The Founder of Jabo Plantation
John Soo, born in 1962, is a visionary third-generation Chinese Malaysian agriculturist who founded Jabo Plantation. Soo's journey from traditional farming to pioneering the cultivation of jaboticaba in Malaysia showcases his innovative spirit and dedication to agricultural advancement.
- Agricultural Heritage : John Soo comes from a family with deep roots in traditional agriculture, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
- Educational Background : He graduated in accounting from Stamford College in 1985, bringing a strong business acumen to his agricultural projects.
- Business Ventures : In 1997, John Soo co-founded a business focused on agricultural planting and fertilizer production, leveraging his family’s expertise.
- Jaboticaba Pioneer : Discovering jaboticaba in 2010, John Soo began cultivating this unique fruit in Malaysia by 2013, establishing Jabo Plantation and developing a robust industry chain around the fruit.
In 2017, China's CCTV Discovery Channel featured Malaysia's Jaboticaba project on its "Focus Pioneers List," prompting an on-site investigation and interview with John Su. The project received extensive coverage, including a video report on the entire industry chain. In 2018, Su joined the China Council for Promotion of International Trade and was featured on the cover of China Foreign Trade Magazine for his Jaboticaba project.
In February 2019, he was interviewed again, providing deeper insights into the Jaboticaba industry chain and earning another cover feature. The project's inclusion in the 2019 Yearbook of the People's Republic of China underscored its potential as a blue ocean endeavor.
